Catching Up...

It has been awhile since my last post.  Life has presented us with new opportunities.  Not sure of the road we will travel, but there will definitely be opportunities for growth.

Most exciting for our family, especially for Michael, was the February 7th arrival of a large white envelope addressed to Elder Michael Dean Bartholomew, from the Office of the First Presidency.  He had waited about 4 weeks for this envelope to arrive.

Needless to say, he had to wait until 7 that night to open it.  He wanted to Skype with siblings who are away from home, so he waited for them to be available.

After much excitement and enthusiasm from the prospective missionary, he was finally able to calm himself enough to open it and begin reading. Even then he was pretty nervous.  He began reading.  Dear Elder Bartholomew, ... you are hereby called to serve as a missionary ... in the Australia Sydney Mission.  WOW! He was excited, as was his dad who served in the Australia Melbourne Mission.  We were all busy chatting about his mission when he said, "wait, there is more".  Oh yes, I thought.  When do you leave?  He began to read, "... you will enter the MTC in Provo, on June 5th and prepared to teach gospel in the Cantonese Language".
Congratulations Mike

We are so proud of you and the preparation you have made
for this important time in your life.
We know you will serve our Heavenly Father well.
